' Miss Muriel' Davis, daughter of Mr. Moss Davis, who has been ill with influenza, !in Wellington, is now recovering. Amongst the visitors in Sydney at. pre.-! sent is General Olive, who served through the Crimean War, and who is making. a ; tour of the Australian States.

Mi. C. H. Reynolds, manager of the Pacific Cable Board, arrived at Suva on Saturday by the cable steamer Iris from Vancouvet and Fanning Island. Mr. Alexander Scott, the Anglo-Indian artist, who has been staying in Welling-, ton for.the past few months, and Mrs. Scott, left on Tuesday last for Nelson. Mr. Scott'will spend two or three months in studying and painting the scenery of the Nelson district.

. Mi. Frank Dye, of Kaukapakapa, has consented to be a candidate for the seat on the Education Board rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr. J. G. Rutherford. Mr. Dye has been a member of the Kaukapakapa School Committee for over ?0 years, and is-at present chairman of that body.

Wilson, who has been appointed assistant resident medical officer to; Wellington Hospital, is. to'leave England' month, and to be in Wellington to take up his duties by the middle of December.* He has filled the positions of house surgeon -at Birmingham Hospital and at the Hospital for Sick Children in Grea'.
