.. AUCKLAND engineers V. No. ' 1 GAREISON ARTILLERY. A ElFlfc-SHOOTINff match was fired between teams representing: the Auckland Engineers and the No. 1 Company N.Z.G.A. Volunteers (Auckland Navals) at the Mount Eden Range on Saturday, when some very .'fair shaotiiig' was done. Tine conditions were seven shots \ lying and seven shots sitting. 'Hie third-class shots 'of. the' No/8 Company of jS.Z.G.A. Volunteers fired their final match in the competition for a trophy presented by Captain Spinley, formerly; lieutenant of the corps on Saturday afternoon at the Mount Eden Range.. The conditions ' provided for two handicap matches consisting of 20 shots each— prone, 10 kneeling—the scorer of the highest aggregate in Die two matches'to be the winner of the prize. The competition, winch was. very keen, resulted in a win for the scratch man (Gunner Coham) by four points. At the conclusion of the match three cheers were given for the'winner and three for the donor of the prize. The. following' were the principal scores:— v

AKABANA RIFLE CLUB. ; 'At the Avondaloßange on Saturday the membe/s of the Akarana Rifle Club held & practice at 300 yds and 500 yds, ■10 shots at each distance. At 300 yds Mr. L. Skinner headed the list with 45, Mr. J. J. Buchanan being second with 42, and Mr.' 13. Buchanan ■third with 40. At 500 yds Messrs. .A. G. Mauslian and E. Buchanan each compiled 45, while Mr. R. Aylett got on 43. The following is the complete list of' the scores registered:—

PIAKO MOUNTED RIFLES. A parade of the Piako Mounted Rifles was held on Thursday.! The special business wa3 the election of a third .lieutenant.'*'.' Two candidates were in the tunning— P. Wild,' formerly lieutenant hi the late Te Aroha Rifles, and Corporal Tstitersall, of the Mounted Rifles. A vote was taken, which gave Mr. Wild a small majority; but as the necessary two-thirds majority was not secured, no election resulted, i ; Sergeant-Major ;, Coleman took the non-commissioned ; officers ; for instruction in their special duties, and some useful work was done. In the evening a farewell social to Trooper J. McKee, is about to return to South Africa, with the intention of settling there, was held in the Public Hall.
