By the last 'Frisco mail the agents for Messrs. Bryant and May's wax matches received a letter stating that they have ceased to use phosphorus in the composition of their matches. The new formula is absolutely nonpoisonous to the workpeople engaged in the manufacture, and to all who may subsequently handle them. Exhaustive experiments prove that it requires the heads of six thousand matches to make a rabbit sick. 1 hey are therefore really harmless, even if sucked by children.
