[BY TELEGRAPH. — ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Friday. Through traffic on the Rimutaka incline was interrupted for about an hour this morning, owing to a- track on one of the night trains leaving the rails and causing an obstruction.
Dr. Wohlmann, Government Balneologist, in a report to the Tourist Department, states that it would be unwise to attempt to use natural gas at Hauoier for balneological purposes. W.4KGANUI, Friday. It was to-night decided to establish a second Presbyterian Church here. The Rev. A. Morton, of Orhost, Gippsland, Victoria, was temporarily appointed minister. Chkistciitjhch, Friday. The North Canterbury centre of the League of New Zealand Wheelmen, asked by the council for an opinion regarding the allofcmen of this season's championships, decided to recommend that they should be held in Christchurch, and be' conducted by the centre and council.
The New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association, which has its headquarters in Christchurch, has issued a circular to affiliated clubs, asking them to use their influence to have a readjustment of the Government subsidy. This association has 23 clubs, with between iiUOO and 3000 members connected with it, and the Auckland Association, which seceded from the other, comprises only one club, yet both associations receive the same amount; namely, £50. It is not asked that the grant to the Auckland Association should be reduced, but that the grant to the larger association should be increased. The Canterbury centre of the association has decided to bring the matter under the attention of the local members of Parliament.
