POLICE COURT NEWS. Messrs. J. Alexander, J. Ziman and J. C. Irvine, justices of the peace, presided at yesterday's sitting of the Police Court. Drunkenness: A first-offender, who pleaded guilty, was convicted and discharged, and Walter "Williams, an old offender, fined 10s, or in default 4-3 hours. Maintenance: John Albert Castles was remanded on bail until to-day en a charge of failing to support his illegitimate child, lho accused had been arrested in Cnnstchurcn , on a warrant. „ , By-law Cases: Thomas Wilson was fined Is and costs for riding a horse noon the foot-; path in rin-street; Alfred Bray, a like amount:, for driving a vehicle without a light after dark in Symonds-stroet; William John Spence, 10s, for being the owner of a horse found at large in St. George's Bay Road; William Cocke, Is, for a similar offence; and Ernest McQuillan, ss. for driving a vehicle at other than a walking pace round the corner of East and Symonds Streets. Sylvia Clarke and Ethel Whitbead were convicted and discharged for riding their bicycles upon the footpath in Manukau Road, as also was James (Price, for wheeling a fish cart along the footpath in Karangahape Road. Charles Peters, charged with having taken a horse on No. 2 jetty of the Auckland Harbour Board, and failing to remain by the same, was fined 5s and costs. A similar fine was imposed upon Henry Smith for having taken a horse and cab upon No. 3 jetty without remaining by the same. After hearing evidence, their Worships dismissed the case against Richard Partridge, who was accused of having taken a vehicle, drawn by one horse, on the Queenstreet Wharf, and failing to remain by the same. Bound Over to Keep the Pence: Nelly Green, on the application of Win. George Garrard, consented to be bound over in her own bond of £10 to keep the peace towards him. Mr. Reed appeared in support of the application, and Mr. J. R. Luudon for the defence. Prohibition Order: A prohibition order was made against Thomas William Parvin, who did not appear.
