DEATH OF DEAN ROLLAND.
[BY TELEGRAPH.— ASSOCIATION'.] '■ t Reefton, Monday. Dean Roixanu died to-day at the Roman, Catholic Presbytery, after five moAths' illness, aged 68 years. 1 Ho came to the colony 37 years ago, first living in Hawke's Bay and Taranaki. In 1865 lie. was appointed a chaplain to the forces operating under General Chute against the Maoris. He was present at a number of engagements, and played a prominent part during the retreat from Ngutu o te Mann, where Von Temp sky fell. ( His career is reviewed in Gudgeon's "Heroes of.New Zealand."
