The departure of the United States gunboat Wheeling for Samoa has teen delayed owing to the easterly gale, and she will leave as soon as the weather moderates.

THE SONOMA. , The mail steamer Sonoma is due from Sydney at daylight this morning, and after the ■usual inspection will berth at the Qneenetreet Wharf. The Sonoma is timed to proceed to Inland ports and San Francisco at 21 o'clock 'this afternoon.

■ THE CANOPUS. The Westport Coal Company's new steam collier. Canopus, which is now on the voyage from England to New Zealand, will proceed ■ direct to Westport. and not come to Auckland, as wag previously stated. THE WAINUI. ' . , The Union Company's earner Wainui takes the Takapuna's trip from Wellington to Oneliunga this week, and i*; due at the Manukau to-morrow morning. The Wainui leaves I'or New Plymouth and Wellington upon arrival of the San Francisco mail steamer at Auckland, due on Tuesday next.. THE RECKON SHI RE. The steamer Brecltonshire, a vessel of 5000 tors register, proceeds from Newcastle to Fiji with a cargo of coal, under charter to the Union S.S. Co., and on discharge loads law sugar through the group for Auckland. THE HAWEA. The Union Company's steamer Hawea is due from the South on Saturday next, with a cargo of grain and produce, and is timed to proceed South again on Monday evening. * THE TALUNE. The Union Company's steamei Talune, Captain J. T Rolls, arrived from Southern and East Coast ports at 9 a.m. yesterday, berthing at the Queen-street Wharf. Th. purser reports that the steamer left Dunedm oil Iridav afternoon last, and callcd at Lyttelton, Wellington, Napier, a;nd Gisborne, leaving the latter port at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, and arrived as above. From Gisborne to the East Cape moderate easterly breezes and following sea prevailed, followed by smooth seas and rainy wcathei to arrival. The Taluue ' leaves for East Const and Southern ports at noon to-morrow. THE TAIERI. The Union Company's steamer Taieri. Captain Williams, arrived from Westport early yesterday morning, with a cargo of coal, berthing at the Hobsoa-street Wharf. The Taieri, which has been running between West,port and Lyttelton for some months past, has been placed on the Auckland trade, taking the place of the Rakanoa whilst the latter is engaged in bringing raw sugar from Fiji to Auckland.
