NEW ZEALAND V. AUSTRALIA.
An interesting return compiled by Mr. Bateman, of Australia, has been forwarded to Sir Joseph Ward, giving a comparison of the exports? of the various Australian States and New Zealand. The following shows the wool exported to the end of February, for clips 1901 and 1902: —
The average yield of wheat in Victoria for 1900-01 was 8.85 bushels per acre: in 1901-02 it was 6.91 bushels per acre: while in 1902-3, it had dwindled down to 1.26 bushels per acre. The average yield of wheat in New South Wales for 1902-03, when 1,579,834- acres were sown, was li bushels per acre. The following table shows the decrease of live stock in New South Wales, 1902, compared with 1901: —
