WAIKATO HUNT CLUB.

[FROM OTJK own correspondent.] , ( _'j The hounds proceeded to Kiliikihi last week, that favourite locality associated with good hunting. Between 60 and 70 people assembled on Saturday. They were first enter- i tained at an admirable luncheon provided by Mr. George Walsh, of the Alpha Hotel. Before rising from the table, at the invitation of ill - . M. Gorrie those present drank in | bumpers tho health of the host and hostess, Mr. Walsh suitably replying. At half-past j eleven a move was made towards Mr. Hutohi- j son's farm, a halt being made at Mr. George Walker's, where a presentation of a case of silver-mounted pipes was made to him by Mr. Gorrie, on behalf of the club, for his untiring zeal in hunting club matters and his kindness in placing his property at the disposal of the club, having fences mended, etc. Mr. Gorrie improved the event by a felicitous speech, in the sentiments of which all concurred. Mr. Walker briefly replied. Proceeding onwards, a hare wa3 put up on Hutchison's. It crossed the road into Corboy's, doubled back to Hutchison's, and was killed by the haystack after a fine run, extending over two miles. A second throw-off revealed a hare in Cullen's place. It crossed the road to Hutchison's, thence to Storey's, and finally to' Orakau, where it was lost'. The third throw-off took the pack to T. Corboy into Walker's, through McKinder's, the fugitive hare finding a safe refuge in the swamp. The hounds were whipped off and tho order given for home. _ Fences _ were numerous and afforded plenty of good jumping. Some of the wire fences were difficult of negotiation, and involved a few empty saddles, but there was nothing of a serious nature to chronicle. The hounds went- fast and true as steel all day. The committee, especially Messrs. Walsh and Gorrie, were very attentive to visitors from Cambridge and elsewhere, the latter feeling a sense of gratitude for the kindness shown.
