SCARLET FEVER AT THE HOSPITAL.

CLOSED AGAINST VISITORS.. At the close of yesterday's meeting of the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, Dr. Collins, medical superintendent of the hospital, stated that scarlet fever had broken out in the Auckland Hospital. He was afraid that it might go right through the institution. During last week two cases had occurred. He mentioned that in Dunedin the house surgeon had died through the introduction of this disease, and that in the case of the local hospital lie was afraid of serious trouble. He was .certain that patients from outside had brought scar, let fever into the institution. Dr. Collins asked the Board to close the hospital against all visitors. On the motion of Mr. A. Bruce it was decided to give effect to the doctor's request at once.
