General Babington, Commander of the New Zealand Forces, arrived from Wellington by the Takapuna on Saturday. A Press Association telegram states that Mr. Douglas, inspector of machinery at Wellington, has been transferred to' Auckland. Mr. Nicholas, postmaster of Whangarei, was presented with a very handsome silvermounted walking stick by the stall of officers on his departure for Tauranga. Mr. Wyatt, of the Navy League, will shortly arrive in Wellington from London, via Canada, Hongkong, and Australia, for the purpose of forming a branch of the league. Captain Wing, late manager of the Lake Wakatipu Shipping Company, prior to his departure for Auckland, was entertained by the employees at a social, and was presented with an address expressing esteem and respect, and also with a handsome travelling case (fitted with the usual toilet requisites) and a silver-mounted umbrella.
