MINISTER FOR MINES.
COAL MINES AT MOUNT SOMEHS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION-.] Ashburton, Saturday. The Minister for Mines, the Hon. J. McGowan, returned to-day from a visit of inspection to the coal mines at Mount Somers. The Minister expressed surprise at finding that such large bodies of coal existed in the district, and the extent the development of the. mines had already attained. Mr. Mc.Clowan promised that he would get all the available information, and if it proved satisfactory, thought the request for increased facilities for transit should be granted.
