The Auckland Liedertafel give their opening concert for this season on Thursday, May 28. The society have decided upon this change of night, viz., from Friday to Thursday, to meet the large number of musical people who are debarred through business and other reasons on Friday. The Liedertafel are making special efforts this season to augment their subscribers' list. They are importing a large number of the most popular part songs from England and America, so that their programmes should maintain a very high standard of excellence. At a meeting of directors of the Riverhead Pape;. Mills, held on Wednesday last, a_ Jarge number of applications for the position of secretary wore gone through, and Mr. F. H. Templcr was' appointed to the position. By advertisement in another column it is announced that the meeting of the executive of the Employers' Association, called for Friday Inst, was adjourned till Monday, the 15th inst. '
An excursion steamer will leave the ferry tee at a-quarter to eleven a.m. and two p.m. to-day for Rangitoto and St. Heliers Bay. Tudor' third concert will be given in St. George's Hall, Great North Road, this evening.
