Sydney, May 15. i The Arbitration Court award practically | amounts to an injunction restraining the' Newcastle colliery proprietors from disturb-; ing the present hewing rate until after the close of this year. The Court found, accord-' ing to the agreement between the proprietors and miners, that the meeting of proprietors in March last, which decided to reduce i the selling price of coal, was not properly constituted, and not such a body as the miners had given power to fix the selling price or determine the hewing rate ; also, that the. custom of the district was to fix the hewing rate for the whole year. OBITUARY. Sydney, May 15. The death has occurred of Mr. Sydney Lewis Moss, for many years prominent in commercial life in Wellington. FEDERATION OF EMPLOYERS. Sydney, May 15.
