ARBITRATION COURT
FINES FOR BREACHES OF AWARD.

Christchurch, Monday. The Arbitration Court this morning inflicted the following penalties for breaches of the butchers' award:—The Cliristchurch Meat Company was fined £3 and costs for employing men two hours on Good Friday and last show day, and working employees more than 48 hours during Labour Day week. James Knight, H. Blane and Son, Langdon and Steel, for breaches of the award regarding two Good Fridays and show day, were fined 40s and costs. James Forester, for breaches on show day, 1902, was fined 20s and costs. The union was ordered to receive £7 7s. Later, Tutton and Grimmer, butchers, and Charles Mann, butcher, were fined 20s and costs for breaches of the award regarding Labour Day week. The Court fined Main Brothers, bootmakers, 20s and costs fof discharging unionists and taking on non-unionists. C. H. Cox, builder, was similarly mulcted for the same offence. The Court received the agreement come to between the Gardeners' Union and the employers, and will fix the rate of wages, whica is the only point in dispute. The Court will sit at Waimate on Wednesday, and resume again in Clirietchurch on Friday morning.;
