AKARANA RIFLE CLUB.

MEMBTiIiS of the Akarana Rifle Club met at Avondale on Saturday afternoon for the usual weekly competitions. The "A" class fired for Messrs. A. Buckland and Shis? marble clock, 10 shots being fired at th» 300 yds and 600 yds ranges. The "B" c!»a competition (the trophy for which was Mr. E. T. Buchanan's gold medal), at the same ranges as "he above, fell through, as the requisite number of competitors of this class failed to pat in an appearance. The wea* ther conditions were favourable for shoot* ing, and some good scores were recorded. A light but steady wind from the right pre« vailed throughout the afternoon. Mr. K. 3Cox was the successful competitor in the "A" class competition, which he won with a total of 84 points. Mr. J. J. Buchanan, who has been shooting well of late, was second with 83. The 600 yds range was taken first, and at this point the best individual scores were Messrs. R. G. Cox's and J. JBuchanan's 45 each and Mr. E. Pollards 44. At 300 yds Mr. E. Buchanan compiled 43 and Mr. S. Rowe 40. The following are details of scores:—
