PAKURANGA HUNT CLUB.
THE members of tbj Pakuranga Hunt, Club mot on Saturday at the Star and Garter Hotel. Panmure, at noon, and moved off in the direction of Mr. Stevenson's property, where the hounds were not long: in scenting a fine hare, which struck a course through Kay's property, and from thence to Sylvia Park. Crossing: the road to the swamp by Morrison's paddocks, the quarry crossed Kitson's farm and the road and struck up to the top of Bailey's Hill, where she cried quits. The hounds were brought back again to the bottom of Sylvia Park, where another hare was put up and pave a splendid run right over the mountain, fast Messrs. Nathan's and Wallace's properties, eventually crossing Thorhurn's and on to the vicinity of St. Ann's bridge, where she stopped at the foot of the hill and doubled back again across the road to the mountain and into Wallace's swamp paddock. The hare then turned sharply to the left, and passing Nathan's stables crossed the Great South Road and was ultimately lost in a maize paddock. As the hounds had been running all the afternoon and darkness was setting in, they were not thrown off again. The day was an ideal one for hunting, and soveral hundreds of spectators lined the Sylvia Park hill, while many followed in vehicles. The country offered several stiff post-and-rnil fences for negotiation, and some big jumping was witnessed, and, taken all round, the class of hunters was superior to those of last year. One gentleman counted 28 horses that cleared a remarkably stiff fence without rapping. Spills were, however, frequent during the afternoon and several riderless horses were seen at large. The meat will be at Papatoeloe station on Wednesday next. •
