OHINEMURI COUNTY COUNCIL.

THE following business was transacted at the meeting of the Ohir.emuri County Council after the telegraph office closed'-'on Thursday evening:—lt was decided to invite fresh tenders for metal in Scotchman's Gully, Karangahake. It was agreed to make a path in Russell-street, Paeroa. Messrs. Scanlon and Eyre, prospectors at Karangahako reported that they had struck a reef, and intended carting a parcel of ore to Thames for treatment. They asked for a road into the claim. The application was granted. An application by residents of Waikino that the mam footpath in the township be tarred and sanded, was granted, provided the applicants pay half the cost. Mr. F. D. Ferguson, returning officer, presented a statement showing that the cost of the late licensing election was £287, this being £80 less than the cost of the previous election. It was agreed that the Thames County Council do the work on the Hikutaia Bridge, the Ohinemuri Council to pay half the cost. It was resolveto support Air. P. Cheat's scheme for the settlement of the I'iako lands, viz., that portion of the land should be set apart for residents of the Hauraki peninsula. In consideration of Mrs. E. Edwards having allowed water for the abattoirs to be taken through her property it was agreed to allow her to connect tree of charge with the abattoirs supply at Mackaytown. An application from Bagnall and Co. to have the Turua-Netherton Road attended to was declined. With respect to the Karangahake water supply and the prmoscd removal of pipes by the 'water inspector because they were over the regulation size, it was decided that the pipes be left as they are. The Finance Committee reported that the overdraft amounted to £10,417 17s Id. Accounts amounting to £30-92 183 3d were passed for payment. The dog registrar reported that the unregistered dogs at Karangahake were a nuisance, and. power was given him to destroy all re'ristared dogs. Mi. Graham moved that the Council considers it advisable to acquire the right of a track from Butler's track to the Ro.hu Road, but the motion lapsed for want of a secon'-er.
