I am in favour of abolishing the Ward System, in order that the narrow spirit of parochialism in our local administration may be done away with, and that the growth of the movement for a Greater Auckland may be fostered and strengthened. I believe in municipalising the Light and Water, and expanding our Water Supply System until it is sufficient for the City for the next 50 years. The Drainage System should be steadily advanced until all our streets are completed. I think the present rates are sufficient for all purposes if the outlay is carefully supervised. I do not intend to canvass the Ward for Votes. lam well known, having some property in the Ward, and, if elected, will do my utmost to serve you faithfully, and to promote the best interests of the City. GEORGE H. POWLEY. IN response to the numerous and urgent requests of private citizens and deputations, I beg to offer myself as a Candidate for the City Council as a Representative of GRAFTON WARD. Luring my residence in the City (about IS years) I have followed closely its affairs, and if elected will do my utmost to serve its bestinterests. The Health of the City demands close attention to Sanitation and Water Supply, and its Finances require close scrutiny and careful administration. I pledge myself to endeavour to secure these so as to assure Economy and Efficiency.
