PRESENTATION TO MR. R. MONK.

Richard Mons is to be entertained at a banquet at Warkworth on the 15th inst. in recognition of his services to the Waitemata electorate, which he represented in Parliament for 10 years, retiring voluntarily at last election. An illuminated address anil a book containing the signatures of 745 subscribers to tho testimonial are to be presented to Mr. Monk, the address being in the following terms: — To Richard Monk, .Esq. Dear Sir,— constituents of the Waitemata- electorate, which you represented in the Mew Zealand Parliament for 10 years, we, irrespective of any political party, desire to offer you our sincerest thanks for your faithful services, and to congratulate you on the able and diligent manner in which you have always discharged your onerous and important Parliamentary duties. We feel that we have been honoured as a constituency in having had as our representative so eloquent and honest an advocate of tho equal rights of Ml men, of leg-is-lation on sound principles, and of purity of administration. Although you have now retired lrom the political arena, we trust that your consistent example may be both instructive and inspiring to the men who succeed you, and we hope you may be spared to witness and 'assist in the fuller and higher development of the national life of the colony in whoso early straggles you have taken so long and strenuous a share. The address has been beautifully illuminated at the Heisald Works, and contains views of Parliament House, Wellington, Mahurangi Heads, some typical New Zealand bush and tho British and New Zealand flags. It is to be framed with New Zealand woods, a beautiful frame formed of a combination of New Zealand woods having been furnished by the Tonson Garlick Company. Tho book of signatures lias been elegantly bound and artistically tooled in gold, and, together with the address, will no doubt be highly treasured by Mr. Monk.
