At a meeting of the newly-formed fire brigade last night, presided over by Captain Mom?, who' was appointed captain by the Borouch Council, a resolution was earned, bv 15 votes to eight, expressing want of confidence in Captain Morris as their senior officer, because of his action for years past in connection with fire brigade business generally as their senior officer. There" is great indignation in local volunteer circles at the decision not to have Easter manoeuvres this year. ' It has been definitely decided that the Petone Rifle Club will fire a match against the Opald Club at Masterton on Lastei Monday. Dtobdw . Wednesday. The premises of On Lee, the keeper of a Chinese cookhouse, were raided on Sunday night, and On Lee was fined £25. Thirtytwo others had to pay £1 each. Hokitika, Wednesday. Captain Agnew, a very old identity, died suddenly last evening, aged 79. Cheistchtjech, Wednesday. The students who will represent Canterbury College in the intercollegiate tournament at Auckland, left last evening.
