SOME AUCKLAND FIGURES STEADY PROGRESS. '121 ,*« ;.: Other kinds 517 *» During the past year very considerahl. progress has been made in the Auckland provincial district in the dairy industry Creameries and butter factories have be*.' established in a number of new localities both in the Waikato and in the district* north .of Auckland, and the output of th industry has increased in satisfactory ratio* The export prices have not,been so coqJ this year as last, and the Australian L> kefc does not offer quite the same induce' ment as it has done in previous years but the business is on a sound basis, ami ' koo j prices are likely to be received in th» future. The new Commonwealth tariff of course, has had an effect on the export trade to Australia, but this result has nob been so noticeable during the past yearowing to the drought on the other* side compelling the Australian States to loot to this colony for a considerable portion of their supplies. Regular shipments Have been made to South Africa, since the commencement of the subsidised shipping ger l vice, and this is an outlet which may be expected to afford a future market for » great deal of our dairy produce.
