THE GOVERNOR.

His Excellency the Governor will probably arrive in Auckland on the 23rd inst., and it is expected that he will lay the foundation-stone of the Veterans' Home on the following day. Colonel Davies and Mr. H. Boscawen went out to Mount Roskill on Sunday, and inspected the site, and decided on several details. One of these was that the building should face in the direction of One-tree Hill, so as to enable the inmates to obtain the benefit of the morning and afternoon sun from the verandahs, which will be placed at the tack and front of the building. It is anticipated that the foundations will be so far completed as to enable the function to take place on thedate mentioned. An extensive programme is being prepared for the entertainment of the veterans. His Excellency will remain in Auckland till a fortnight before Parliament meets, which will he on June 25. During his stay here he will entertain the oflicevs of the Japanese warships, which are expected to inive on the 18th inst.
