Consideration of the protest against R. Henderson in the 75yds handicap for boys, on the grounds of being over age. was deferred to enable the winner to produce his birth certificate. Mr. M. Champion was present, and after having heard the correspondence that had taken place between the olub and the Wellington centre and the Christchurch Association, expressed himself as perfectly satisfied with the efforts the club had made on his behalf. A subject was introduced by Mr. W B Eyre than had caused the committee great regret, namely, the betting element that was painfully evident at the clubs carnival last Saturday. A motion was proposed and carried, "That steps be taken immediately to approach the authorities in order to obtain ample police or detective assistance to suppress betting at all future meetings held by the Northern Amateur Swimming Club." A deputation was formed to interview the proper authorities on the subject. ____________»_
