ALLEGED ASSAULT.
[BY TELECRAPII.OWX CORRESPONDENT.] ■ ,'•'■ COROMANDEi,, - Monday. It is stated that on Saturday night a serious row took place at Kennedy's Bay. Sergeant Law got information of the affray on Sunday afternoon, and found that two brothers named . Sweeney , were so badly cut about that the sergeant at once took them to Dr. Cheeseman. James Sweeney was sent to the hospital for further attention. John Sweeney got struck on the head with a brick over the right eyebrow. The doctor stitched up the wound, and the man is able' to walk about, but is still weak from loss of blood. Sergeant Law arrested John Baxter in Coromandel this morning, and afterwards proceeded to Mercury < Bay and arrested a man named Whitehead, at Wairoa. Both prisoners will be charged before the Court to-morrow morning, that they did, at Kennedy's Bay., on the 4th inst., assault James and John Sweeney, of Kennedy's Bay, so as to. cause actual bodily harm, being an indictable offence.
