[FBOJI OTJB OWN CORRESPONDENTS.] WAIHI. A BALLOT was taken on Saturday by tho Waihi Miners' Union, to decide which of the two candidates (Messrs. Donaldson and Katz) should be supported by the union for the Mayoral seat. Out of some 500 odd. financial members only 75 recorded their votes, divided as follows:— D. Donaldson, 50; Mr. Adolf Katz, 25. The fifth anniversary of the Waihi Presbyterian Church was celebrated on Sunday, when services were held morning, afternoon, and evening, the latter service being held in the Academy of Music, when there was a, crowded congregation. The Rev. Mr. Gray, of Auckland, officiated at all the services. At the evening service lie delivered a most interesting and instructive address. Miss Hettie Evans, of Auckland, rendered several solos during the services. CAMBRIDGE. A MEETING of the Provisional Committee of the Waikato Central Agricultural and Pastoral Association was lield in the turners' clubroom on Saturday last. A set. of rules were agreed upon for recommendation to tno next general meeting. The proposed name of the new show ground was discussed, with the result that two names are to be submitted— "Victoria Park" and " King's Park." The secretary was instructed to write to the Domain Board and ask if they had any recommendation to make. A meeting of St. Andrew's Ladies' Guild was held in the parish schoolroom on Thursday last, at which arrangements were made for the new session. The following ladies were appointed a committee to purchase and prepare material and . supervise work: —Mesdames "Willis, Bouillon, Payne, Peppercorn. Skeet, and Wells. Meetings are to be held every Thursday at two p.m. The sale of work is to be held on or about December 9. At a general meeting of the Cambridge Football Club in the Criterion Hotel, on Saturday evening, it was decided by 37 to 13 to form a local union, and to apply for affiliation to the Auckland Rugby Union. A meeting of delegates will be held on Saturday evening next. TE AItOHA. THE annual meeting of the Te Aroha Ping- ' Club was held on Thursday evening. The Rev. E. M. Cowie was in the chair. The balance-sheet showed receipts to have been £24 8s; expenditure, £24 Is 4d: balance in hand. 6s Bd. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. .T. AT. May; secretary, and treasurer, Mr. W. Bull; committee, Mesdames Baine and J. Smardon, the Rev. E. M. Cowie. Messrs. Wallace, and Power. It was decided that the club should begin the season's play on Tuesday. 14th inst. ' A meeting of the Te Aroha .Jockey Club was held on Thursday, in the office of the secretary. Mr. A. W. Edwards. Mr. P. Pavitt was in the chair. Major Porritt wrote asking permission to use the racecourse for the Easter volunteer encampment. This was granted. The secretary reported that he had attended to the Racing Conference circular, requesting signatures to a petition to Parliament prayin" for the continuance of the totalisator. ■■' The Steele-Payne Bellvingers paid a return visit to Te Aroha. and were rewarded with one of the largest audiences ever crowded into the Public Hall. The programme presented was heartily enjoyed. HAMILTON.

MB. J. S. BOND has announced himself as a candidate for the Mayoralty, and a requisition is being numerously signed asking Mr. C. J W. Barton to cnotest the election. ■

TE AWAMCTU. ■ AT the Police Court on Friday a young man residing at Kihikihi, named Albert Lowther, was charged with using obscene language in the bar of the Alpha Hotel, Kihikihi. He was convicted and fined £5 and costs 15s, or in default three months in Mount Eden. A further charge of resisting the police was preferred, on which the accused was fined £5 and 15s costs, or three months' imprisonment. Messrs. Irvin and North, justices, were on the Bench.
