THE FARMERS' UNION.
[by telegraph.—press association.] Invercargill, Sunday. . The annual meeting of the Invercargill branch of the Farmers' Union resolved that the union should urge representatives in Parliament to oppose any legislation in favour of compulsory preference of employment to unionists; that the union enter a strong protest against a protective tariff on imported farming machinery, for the support of a combination of implement-makers ; that the union support Mr. Kirkbride, M.H.R.. in the proposed legislation for mutual insurance of farmers against fire and accident. The resolutions will be forwarded to ths conference of the union.
