ATHLETIC NOTES.

AUCKLAND SWIMMING CLUB. The Auckland Swimming Club held a club night last evening in the Albert-street baths. The following events were decided:— 72Yds Handicap : First heat— Hodgson, 10s. 1; J. W. Russell, 10s., 2; S. Dickey, s'= ' 3 Time, 54 2-ss. Second heatJ. E. Ramsay, lis., 1; F. A. Hedges, 55., 2; H. Payne, 10s., 3. Time, 565. The final was very exciting, as the placed men finished nearly in line, the result being: S. Hodgson, 1; J. W. Kussell. 2; S. Dickey, 3. Time, 54- 2-ss. 72Yds Boys' Handicap: There were nine competitors, and resulted in L. Molloy (55.) winning rather easily from F. Sceates (25.), with J." McGuinness (75.) third. Time, 625.

The above club hold their swimming carnival in the Auckland Graving Dock next Saturday afternoon.
