Smith, for Sydney, with passengers and general cargo. THE SIERRA. The mail steamer Sierra, Captain H. C. Houdlette. arrived from San Francisco, Honolulu, and Pago Pago at 11.10 a.m. on March 10, and after medical and Customs inspection berthed at the Queen-street Wharf. The Sierra has made a record trip, the steaming time from San Francisco being 15 days 14 hours 33 minutes, which is the best time by 7* hours ever made by any steamer of the mail line. Mr. N. C. Walton, jun., the purser, to whom we are indebted for our files and despatches, reports: The Sierra left San Francisco at 3.14 p,m. on February 20. and arrived at Honolulu on the 25th. After a detection of 16 hours 18 minutes, resumed the voyage, and readied Paso Pago on the morning of March 5. Was detained 12 hours 25 minutes, landing cargo, when the steamer left for Auckland, stopping for the Auckland pilot at 10.30 a.m. on March 10, the run up from the Samoan port being made in 3 days 21 hours 27 minutes, which is record time. The Sierra resumed her voyage to Sydney at midnight.
