AUCKLAND CROWN LANDS.

AN IMPORTANT BALLOT. 13,261 ACRES SELECTED. The ballot for sections of Crown lands in tile large areas thrown open in various parts of the Auckland provincial district on Wednesday 'last took place at the District Land and Survey Office, Custom-street West, yesterday forenoon. Mr, Gerhard Mueller Commissioner of Crown Lands, supervised the ballot, and there were some 50 or 60 applicants in attendance to witness the proceedings. The total number of applications received and dealt with was 445, and the area, disposed of by ballot and! without competition was 18,261 acres. The huilk of the land, which is second-class, is situated in the Kawhia and Hokianga districts, and the greater part of it was taken up' under the occupation with right of purchase tenure.
