CAMBRIDGE POLO CLUB'S SPORTS.
» THE Cambridge Polo Club's annual sports took place at " Bardowie" on Wednesday afternoon. There was a fair attendance of the public. There were no outside competitors beyond a few from Hamilton, but the local men and horses annexed all the prizes. Mr. J. Knight acted as judge, Mr. Q. W. Arnold clerk of the scales, and Mr. 0. Hunter clerk of the course, while Mr. C. C. Buckland efficiently performed the secretarial duties. The following- were the results:— BENDING COMPETITION.
Mr. Norman Banks' Kerry 1 Mr. R. Hannon's Banjo ... ... ... ... 2 Six others competed. Won after a bard tussle. HURDLE RaCE. One mile. , Mr. j; O. Potts' Colleen, 12st (Mcßae) '* ... i Mr. W. Kay's ' Matmgawhara, list 71b (0. Selby) ... . 2 Two others ran. ; Won easily. POLO BALL RACE. Mr. Norman Banks ... — ... 1 Mr. R. Hsnnon ... ... ... 2 Messrs.' W. Douglas, A. Barn-Murdoch, J. White, R. F. Seddon, and C. C. Bnckland also competed. - POLO CUP. Pour furlongs. Mr. James Taylor's Gaiety, 12st (C. Selby) 1 Mr. J. C. Potts' Colleen, 12st lib (W. Douglas) ... - 2 Manngawhai-a. and Waimarie also ran. Won easily. TANDEM RACE. Mr. N. Banks' Goldfish and Kerry (owner) 1 Mr. J. Allen's Scratchit and Male (owner) 2 Two other teams also raced. Won by several lengths. LADIES' BRACELET. Miss Hill's Vanity (J. Taylor) 1 Miss McCaw's Molly (N. Banks) ... ... 2 Miss Douglas' Little Nell, Miss Hill's Target. Miss Kay's Kerry, Miss Banks' Bamper, and Miss Allen's Donkey also competed.. NIGHTSHIRT RACE. Mr. Norman Banks ... ... 1 Mr. Innes Taylor ... 2 Two others started. CONSOLATION RACE. Mr. W. Kay's Manngawhara (Joe Banks) ... 1 Mr. R. Hannon's Banjo (owner) 2 Two others raced. Won easily.
