WANGANUI JOCKEY CLUB'S AU'FUMN MEETING. AN AUCKLAND-OWNED HORSE WINS THE CUP. TbY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wangantji, Thursday. Ideal weather prevailed for 'he Wanganui Jockey Club's autumn carnival. The attendance was the largest for many years, being estimated at 4500. Advance was made a strong favourite for the Cup, but found the crushing impost of list 31b too heavy. The son of Vanguard was going strongly two furlongs from home, but after that he was in difficulties, and finished fifth. Mars won a fast-run race by half-a-length from Orloff. A strong opinion however, prevails that Orloff would have won had he been properly handled. The time for the Cup (3m. 2 4-ss.> is a record for the colony. In the Hack Hurdles Uruhihama and Recoil fell, the former breaking a leg and having to be shot. Westguard won the Flying Stakes with the greatest of ease. The total put through the machine was £11,469, against £10,200 last year, an increase of £1269. Following are the results: — STEWARDS' STAKES HANDICAP of 150sovs. One mile and a distance. Mr. G. P.
