FIGHTING IN NORTHERN NIGERIA.
By Telegraph. Association.—
London, March 4. Lieutenant Croly, of the Nigerian forces,, and 14 men recently made a gallant fight of several hours in defending a Southern Nigerian village against a thousand Indebe Afikpoos. They repeatedly checked desperate rushes made by the natives, and ultimately withdrew with the inhabitants of the village. Subsequently Lieutenant Croly, on being reinforced, dispersed the Afikpoos at the point of the bayonet. Major Hennekir and 250 men traversed the Indebe country and subdued the Afikpoos after stiff fighting.
