Melbourne, March 5. The third day's racing of the V.R.C. Autumn Meeting took place to-day at Flemington. Heavy rain fell all night, but cleared off, and the day turned out fine. The attendance equalled expectations. A field of five went to the post for the Champion Stakes, "Wakeful being made a warm favourite. The daughter of Trenton won the race in fine style, the Australian Cup winner, Great Scot, filling the role of runner-up. When Wakeful returned to the paddock there was an enthusiastic scene.
