MAGISTRATE'S COURT.-Th Mr. W. R. Haselokn, S.M., presided at a sitting of the Magistrate's Court yesterday. UNDEFENDED OASES. In tho case of Lucy Weston Buck v. Catherino A. Gentles, a claim was made for £19 17s as compensation for injury alleged to have been done to plaintiff's hand by defendant slamming her door on her. From the evidence it appeared that the plaintiff is living apart from her husband, and that at the time of the occurrence giving rise to the action she wont to defendant's house to inquire for . her husband, who boarded there. Mrs. Weston stated that Mrs. Gentles slammed tho doo» on her, with the result that several of her fingers were crushed. The defendant denied that plaintiff's fingers were in tho door, and said she had previously warned the latter not to come to her house. His Worship held that there was no evidence of wilfulness or gross negligence, and gave judgment for defendant, with costs. Mr. Brookfield appeared for the plaintiff and Mr. Parr for the defendant. , P. Tozer (Mr. Burton) v. W. S. Fagan: In this case £3 lis 3d was claimed as tho price- of two pigs sold to defendant, and which died on the way to the slaughterhouse. As, defendant had taken delivery of the pigs, judgment was given for tho amount claimed, with costs. James Patrick Nixon v. J. G. White and Co., Limited, *-riiitUP. Lariigan: Claim for £18 lis 4d, as balance Of wages alleged to be dde. The amount claimed had been paid into Court by Messrs. White and Co., to abide the decision of the Court. The plaintiff had been paid 8s a day, and ho alleged that ho had been promised 10s a day. This was denied by the defence. Judgment was given for the defendants, with costs. POLICE COURT NEWS. Messrs. G. W. S. Patterson and J. Patterson, J.P.'s, presided at the sittings of the Police Court yesterday. By-law Cases: Percy Evans, on a. charge of allowing a horse to stray in Wallacestreet, was fined 5s . and costs. Herbert Greaves, for riding a bicycle without a light on tho Mdnukau Road, was fined Is and costs.

A Neighbours' Quarrel: Mrs. 0. E. Patterson was charged, on the information of Margaret Lucas, with assault and with using abusive and insulting language at Kingsland on January 2. The complainant and defendant each asked that tho other bo bound over to keep the peace. Mr. John Alexander appeared for Mrs. Lucas and Mr. J. K. Reed for Mrs. Patterson. The evidence, which was very contradictory, showed that the proceedings aroso out of a neighbours' quarrel. Mrs. Lucas said that there was a gap in the boundary fence, and that on her proceeding to have it repaired Mrs. Patterson used abusive language towards her and pelted her with lumps of brick and clay. Mrs. Patterson stated that these missiles were thrown at a dog which was after her goats, and that she did hot throw anything at complainant. She stated that there had been, previous quarrels between herself and Mrs. Lucas as to the grazing rights over certain land adjoining their properties. The Bench Ordered both parties to find sureties to keen tho peace for three months..
