The sum put through the totalisator was £5213, showing an increase of £1700 on last spring meeting. The results are: — Flying Handicap: Melwood 1, Ringlet 2, Midia o. Scratched—Halberdier. Beau Ideal, and Dodona. Won by a good length. Time. lm. 20s. Dividends, £5 13s and £2 6s. Maiden Hack Handicap: Armistice 1, Ringman 2, Alert 3. Scratched—The Gift, Spikie, Maxirnite, Vandeman, Explorer, Muralo, Fearless, Impala. Won by half-a-length. Time, lin. 21s. Dividends, £29 8s and 12s. Hack Hurdles: Merry Buy 1, Inchcape 2, Old Gun 3. Benedictine. Won bv two lengths. Time, 3m. 30 3-ss. Dividends, £12 16s and £1. Hack Flying Handicap: Laureate 1, Muralo 2, In-the-Van 3. Scratched— Waireka, and Bounce. Laureate led all the way and won by a. good length. Time, lm. 20 3-ss. Dividends. £4 and £3 7s. Handicap Steeplechase: Jack-o'-Lantern 1, The Swimmer 2, Sir Athol 3. Scratched— Hut ana. Shylock baulked at the first fence. Eucharis and King Lear both fell. Jack-o'-Lantern won fairly easy. The Swimmer just beating Sir Athol for second place. Time, 6m. 9s. Dividends, £4 Is and £1 Is. The Avondale Jockey Club notify owners of ponies engaged at their spring meeting that their horses must be presented for measurement at EUerslie to-morrow not later than two p.m.
