Duein'G the dense smoke of the bush fires the steamer Duke of Sutherland stranded on the reef at Lizard Island on Friday. A : boat's crew came to Gooktown and reported that she lies lOOffc on the reef, making water in the forehold. Steamers hava been sent to her assistance. [The Duke of Sutherland is one of the. well-known line of steamers of the Eastern Steamship Company, of London, England, j trading between London and Queensland i ports. She is an iron four-masted steamer, J of 3271 tons, and was built at Glasgow in 1875.] " ._„_.___.______,__. '
