SUDD EN DEATHA AT PONSONBY.
A man" named George h. Leaning, about 55 years oi age, died suddenly at the residence of Mi. James Paget, in Wallace-street, Ponsonby, last evening. The deceased, who was a carpenter, and an old. resident of Auckland, had been employed for the past two •months by the Electric Tramways Company, in connection with the fitting up of the nev, cars at the Ponsonby depot. Yesterday week, whilst lifting a heavy piece of iron he licked his back, and had since been unable to work. He had not been confined to his bod, but had remained about. He was apparently not seriously ill, and had refused to have a doctor called in. He was boarding with Mr. Paget, and about halfpast six last evening he was suddenly taken ill there. Dr. Bedford was immediately sent i for, but the man was dead before he arrived. , Constable. Dunn was communicated with, and an inquest will probably be held today. m^^mmmmm^mmmmm^mm !
