NEW PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AT KARANGAHAKE.

■" Paeroa, Tuesday, i On Sunday last a, new Presbyterian Church was opened at Karangahake. The building, which has been erected on a centrally-situ-ated site, not far from the Crown Company's reduction works, was opened by the Rev. W. Gray Dixon, of Auckland, and Moderator of the Assembly.«, The rev. gentleman gave interesting and appropriate addresses at the three services. At the evening servieo the sitting capacity of the church was taxed to its utmost capacity. The service of praise was led by an efficient, choir and orchestra, under the able conductorship of Mr. A. Law, of Paeroa. Miss Medhurst, of Paeroa, presided at the organ, which, it may be mentioned, cost over £60, and was »' gift to the new church by two; lady members of the congregation. The collections for; the day amounted to £20. ■;■'.;■. ,'.-.,-,■.-. V
The new church has been greatly admired, and with its ample- seating accommodation, its beautiful , appointments, and pulpit of inlaid New Zealand woods,; the church certainly justifies the admiration bestowed., A social in connection with the opening of the church was held at .Montgomery's Hall on Monday night, and was a great success. The Rev. yv. Gray Dixon presided, and gave an address. The Rev. B. Scott (Methodist) and Mr. W. Forrest also addressed the meeting. Solos were given by Mrs. Caisley, Mrs. Crease, Mrs. Gardiner, Misses Gibson and Palmer, and Messrs. Reid, Fewell, Law, and Griffin. The accompaniments were efficiently played by Mrs. Houghton and Miss Medhurst. ■ - ■ -
