London, August 26. The Rev. J. G. Bruce, one of the English missionaries murdered in China, was an Australian, who had been labouring in China since 1896. The Chenchow station had recently been reopened after the Boxer rising and the murders do not imply the renewal of the anti-foreign movement. They are attributed to local superstition. When the outbreak commenced the missionaries declined the Prefect's' invitation to shelter at the Yamen, preferring to remain at the mission station. The gunboat Snipe has, been sent to Chenchow. ______
