ORGAI RECITAL. At the Epiphan; .Church, Newton, last evening, &\ organ eeitai was given in the presence ota large ttendanoe by Mr. T. E. Midgley, onanist ol All Saints' Church. "lira cl Offercoire" (Batiste), " Cantilene" (S«lo e), and "Andante and Allegro" (Bach); At intervals Miss Peak played a violin so >, Gillett's " Andante Religiose," and Mr. . Miiday sang "The Holy City." Mr. Mailing gave the solo "It lg Enough," from ti oratorio of "Elijah" (Mendelssohn).
EDEN AND EKOM LAWN TENNIS : LUB. A dramatic perfttnanco given list evening in St. Sepulchre' Parish Hall, Burleighstreet, under the ispices of the Eden and Epsom Lawn Tent-, and Croquet Club, was most successful. '.Ie audience was a large' and appreciative oi. As a curtain-raiser, a short sketch, entitle " A Happy Pair," which deals with a diff enee and reconciliation between a young ouple, was given, Miss Oberlin-Brown (M;. Honeyton) being distinctly successful i her part. Mr. Mair (as Mr. Honeyton) filh the oilier principal role. This was followed y the production of the comedy " Q.E.D.: Br All a Mistake," the plot treating of a literary bachelor styled " Q.E.D.," who re eives into his house a ward, in a French j rl. Complications eventually arise in the rival of an Irish maiden in the house, who il mistaken for the ward, and the advent of til hitter's lover, who be-, comes enamoured if the ward herself, the: difficulty eventually Irriving at a satisfactory solution. With an Ibundance of humorous, situations, those filing the caste made the most of their opportunities, both Miss Stella Rice (as Bridget O'Slagncssey) and Miss M. Coates (as Mile. Gelatine do la Mayonaise) winning marked appr bation. The remainder of tho caste was fillt 1 by Miss K. OhorlinBrown (Mrs. Primer), Mr. Hall (as Dr. Quintus Epicurus Donne), and Mr. Sykcs (Major Spangle), who acquired themselves credit-, ably. Miss Pickm.Te'l orchestra played some choice selections during the intervals, which: were well received. Tie performance, which' was organised and siiWrvised by tho vicepresident (Dr. F. W. Crates) reflected credit' on that gentleman's eflprts. *
MASONIC INSTITUTE. The annual general moisting of the Masonio ';'' Institute was held last nVght. Brother G. H. Powley, president, waa in the chair, and there was a largo attendance of members. ■ The balance-sheet and committee's report was read by, the secretary, land showed the -' club to be in a very satisfactory condition. The various trophies won in\the billiard and card tournaments were presented to the winners by the chairman, and ' officers for the ensuing year were elected as under:—Patron, ' ■' Brother H. J.
