AUCKLAND SHAREMARKET. The market was quiet yesterday. In investment lines there was fair demand for stocks, but no business resulted: In mining lines Tairua Broken Hills were firmer, selling at 7s 6d, and late buyers offering Bs, with sellers at 8s 4d. Waibi < Extendeds were done at Is 5d and Is 4d. Waihis continued to harden, buyers offering £5 10s and sellers advancing to £5 16s 6d. For Waitekauris Is lOd was offered, sellers 2s 4d. In other lines late prices ruled.

TAIRUA BROKEN HILLS G.M. CO. The manager of the Tairua Broken Hills Gold Mining Company (Mr. H. H. Adams) reports:—During the period ending July 20 the low level upon the reef has been extended a further distance of 40ft, and the reef has improved in value, the ore coming to grass from this drive is the richest I have seen in the mine. Crashing operations are proceeding very satisfactorily. TAIRUA SPECIAL CLAIM. A syndicate was formed yesterday of 20 members to work the Tairua special claim, originally the Golden Point and Golden Hill claims, and situated next to the Tairua Broken Hills mine. The ground has been taken up some' six months, bub has been protected. Recently two men engaged to prospect the ground found a reef from 2£ft to 3ft in width, showing good prospects, and they are now driving at a low level to cut it, whilst a third man is doing surfaceprospecting. The sum of £200 has been placed to the credit of the. syndicate. The committee of management consists of Messrs. C. E. Button, T. T. Masefield, W. S. Whitley, Win. Bailey, and T. A. Asliton. Mr. A. L. White has been appointed temporary secretary. -
