RIOTING IN FRANCE.
STREET BRAWLS IN PARIS. '200 ARRESTS. By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright. (Received July 24, 4.15 p.m.) Paris, July 23. Violent scenes have occurred in France, arising from the closing of 2000 teaching places which neglected to apply for authority under the Religious Associations Bill. The Nationalists joined in street brawls in Paris, where 200. arrests, including M. Francois Coppee, the French poet, were made. '
In June last M. Combes, in the French Chamber, promised to continue the policy of M. Waldeck-Rousseau in combating Cresarism and Clericalism; to keep the army out of politics, and to carry out the Associations Law against the religious congregations " without ' taking account of legal subtleties," and to repeal the Falleux law which guarantees "liberty of teaching" for clerical and non-clerical institutions alike.
