AUCKLAND SHAREMARKET. The market was quiet yesterday. In investment lines Taupiri Coals were done at 19s 6d, and Kaiapoi Woollens at £6 6s. In" mining lines Komata Reefs sold at Is 4d, and Waihi Extcndeds at 2s. For Wait*kauris buyers offered 2s, sellers asking 2s 4d. In other lines late prices ruled. THE GOLD RETURNS. TOTAL FOR THREE WEEKS, £16,884. The gold returns for the Auckland district for the past three weeks are not complete, owing to the absence from the list of several representative companies' outputs. The total reached is £16,884 15s 7d, and this brings the total'to date for the present year to £313,694 17s 9d. For the corresponding period of last year the output was £267,833 Is Bd, or £45.861 16s Id less than this year's total. to date. The past three weeks'' returns are made up as follows:—Ohinemuri, £11,468; Thames, £3771 10s; Coromandel, £1645 5s 7d: total, £16.884 15s 7d.

KURANUT G.M. CO. In the Kuranui Gold Mining Company's mine the tunnel level (tribnters' drive), since picking up the leaders in the level, has been extended 35ft on the course of the lode, which has widened out from about to 18in, with abundance of minerals in the stone, and a fail' show of ruby silver, which is almost a sure indication of meeting with gold. Not a great deal of work has been dene on these leaders yet on account of having to make a quartz paddock and carry airpipes into the face of the present workings. This work being now done, better headway will be made. From the indications in the quartz the manager anticipates meeting with gold before long.

NEW GOLDEN POINT G.M. CO. At a meeting of shareholders in the New Golden Point Gold Mining Company (Tapu). held in. the office of the legal manager (Mr. S. H. Matthews) on Wednesday, Messrs. Laurence D. Nathan and W. D. Handley were elected directors. The necessary authority to dispose of the company's property, together with all rights and privileges, was delegated to the directors. HAURAKI MINES, LIMITED. During the past three weeks in the Hauraki Mines, Limited, mine, No. 6 stope has been completed. No. 2 stope advanced to within 9ft of the boundary. No. 3 stope has been extended 16ft, and the intermediate drive timbered and passes placed in position up to the boundary. In each of the faces in progress the leader has been small in size, yet stones showing nice dabs of gold have been selected from the general ore. The tributers working in the new surface section of the mine are meeting with encouraging prospects. WAIHI WARDEN'S COURT. The Warden's Court sat for the first time in Waihi on Tuesday, before Mr. R. S. Bush, Warden. The following business was trans-acted:-J. McKeown, special quartz claim, Martha Hill Extended, 99 acres, recommended, consent of the local authorities as to mining understood to be obtained ; also Martha North special quartz claim, 34 acres one rood, to the same applicant under the same conditions, was granted. Mr. Jackson appeared for the applicant. Protection was granted in the following cases: —Waihi Alma Gold Mining Company, for Kitchener special quartz claim, six months; R. Worth, Federal special quartz claim, six months, from June 4; Pride of Waihi Gold Mining Company, six months, to be forwarded to the Minister; Grand Junction Company, for sawmill area, six months ; Waihi Consolidated Gold Mining Company, for Favona Brilliant and Key West special quartz claims, for nine months, to be forwarded to the Minister; F. A. Rich, for No. 3 special quartz claim, six months ; Waihi Consols Gold Mining Company, six months, to be forwarded to the Minister. Extension of time for 12 months from June 4 was granted to the Waihi Grand Junction Gold Mining Company for the construction of water-race. H. A. Fritch, renewal ■of timber warrant, 20 acres. Waihi, granted for one year; R. Worth, Federal Extended special quartz claim, granted, to work within 21 days; J. W. Walker, Federal No. 2 special quartz claim, granted, to work within 21 clays. Residence sites granted : W. Barrack, one acre, Waihi; T. S. Leggo, part section 244, one rood, Waihi; H. H. Judge (exchange) section 38, Waihi (granted subject to surrender and license being put in) ; B. C. Parker, half-acre, Waikino. Surrenders were accepted as follows : Helen Eykyn, part section 244, Waihi ; W. Read, residence site license 369; A. The gold dredges on the Buller River had an anxious time during the recent flood, but all escaped without damage. Greymoutu, Thursday. The return from the Alpine Extended battery is llloz sdwt retorted gold, from 200 tons (clean up). The Premier (Duller) dredge return is 260z. Waimea Blow-tip got 750z for the month's work.
