AGRICULTURAL CONFERENCE.
[BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DtJJJEDIN, Thursday. At the Agricultural Conference, it was reselved that the Agricultural Department inquire into and experiment as *to the best method of destroying small birds ; that a system of milk testing at various factories by a Government official be adopted ; that technical education, especially in the direction of teaching the elements of agricultural and natural science should be adopted by the Educational Department; that in the inteiests of higher agriculture an agricultural college, where veterinary students could attend, be established; that the Government be urged to take immediate steps to establish a line of steamers to youth Africa, to secure a share of the trade. It was decided that it would be of great advantage to the breeders of stock if .stud books were published annually. Mr. Murphy said the suggestion that a leaflet of new entries be issued every six months would be carried out if possible. The following resolutions were passed:—"That no person should bo appointed to the position of stock inspector, who has not passed an examination in the diseases of domestic animals;" "That the executive urge on the Acting-Premier that it is Lime to take advantage of the drought in Australia, and try to secure a reduction in the duties on New Zealand produce ;" " That the Government be urged to establish an up-to-date agricultural museum ;" " That the Government be urged to bring in legislation to provide for the more ready sale of New Zealand wines on lines suggested by the Government Biologist;" " That the Government be urged to pass a Bill to legalise the publication of full particulars re the testing of seeds and analysis of manures, such reports to set forth the price, name of vendor, and all information as to purity or otherwise." It was decided to meet again in two years.
