• London, June 23. The Yorkshire team, in the match commenced at Bradford to-day, is the same as in the last match with the Australians, excepting that Frank and Whitehead displace Jackson and Hawke.

George Eliot is dealt with in the supplementary v»lume of the " Encyclopaedia Britar.nica" by Mrs. Craigie (John Oliver Hobbes). Here is an extract from the estimate of that writer : —" Her sensitiveness to criticism was extreme ; a flippant paragraph or an illiterate review with regard to her work actually affected her for days.
