SHORTAGE IN WELLINGTON COAL SUPPLY.
[BY TELEGRAPH. ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Monday. There has lately been a considerable shortage in the domestic coal supply of Wellington. Dealers assert that the principal cause of this is that large shipments are being sent away for the warships on the China station. During the last few weeks 15,000 tons have been shipped in this way. It is stated, on the other hand, that the present scarcity is due to the recent bad weather having prevented steamers getting in and out of Westport expeditiously.
