The Huddart-Parker steamer Zealandia left « for Sydney last evening with a number of passengers and about 500 tons of general cargo, Yesterday the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Waimate commenced discharging her cargo from London. The Northern Company's steamer Clansman left for the North last evening. Last night the Northern Company's steamer Wellington left for Whangarei. The vessel , has a large cargo, consisting of machinery, etc. for the Colonial Sugar Company's new . mill. THE WARSHIPS. H.M.s. Ringarooma arrived at Wellington from Auckland yesterday. THE VENTURA. The mail steamer Ventura left Sydney for Auckland yesterday, and is due on Friday morning next. The steamer brings no passengers for Auckland, and will remain at, anchor in the stream daring her stay in this port. The Ventura is timed to proceed on to Pago Pago, Honolulu, and San Francisco at 2 p.m. on Friday. ...... TRANSHIPMENTS. The Elingamite, which arrived irom Sydney yesterday, brought transhipments per P. and O. Company's steamer from London, Clitus from Singapore and Java, Tsinan from China, and New Guinea from Calcutta. THE WAIKARE. The Union Company's steamer Waikare, which left Auckland on Wednesday afternoon, arrived at Suva on Sunday. • ' THE HA FIB. The steamer Hafis, which left New York for Fremantlr on April 9, has not yet put in an appearance at that port, and some anxiety regarding the steamer is being exhibited owing to her lengthy passage. The Bteamer is a new vessel on her maiden voy- ■- age, and is owned in Germany. THE ELINGAMITE. The Hnddart-Parker steamer Elingamite, Captain W. J. Wyllie, arrived from Sydney shortly before 3 a.m. yesterday, and anchored in the quarantine ground for medical inspection and fumigation. The passengers were admitted to pratique by Dr. E. W. Sharman. the port health officer, during the morning, and the steamer berthed at the Queen-sitreet Wharf early in the afternoon, and commenced discharging cargo. Mr. Chambers, the purser, reports that the Elingamite left Sydney Wharf at 1.15 p.m. and cleared Port Jackson Heads at 2 p.m. on Wednesday last: passed the Three Kings at 7.15 a.m. and rounded the North Cape at 11.35 a.m. on Sunday, arriving as above. Fresh northwest to west winds prevailed until Friday, thence moderate to light north-east winds to ■ arrival, fine weather being experienced throughout the passage. The Elingamite leaves for East Coast and Southern ports this • . afternoon. THE JOHN A. BRIGGS. The work of discharging the cargo of coal from the American ship John A. GISBORNB, June 23.—The auxiliary schooner "■■■■':■■ Aotea arrived from Auckland, via coastal ports, this, evening, after a good passage down. , Captain Skinner reports that the ', Aotea left Auckland on the 12th inst., and arrived at Te Araroa on the 17th, where she remained for a day and a-half on account of adverse weather Considerable speculation was indulged in in shipping circles to-day in regard to the arrival of the Aotea. Three schooners, the Gisborne, Waiapu, and Awanui, I

which were built at intervals during the last 20 years to the order of Captain Skinner, of the Aotea, were lying at the Town. Wharf in the order in which they were purchased, and it required only the Aotea to arrive to complete the quartette. Fortunately the Aotea Had a really good passage down the coast, and sailed merrily ino the bay this afternoon. Captain Skinner was congratulated by the harbourmaster and others oh having secured the unique record previously referred to. Interviewed by a Times reporter. Captain Skinner stated that "he had been 20 years engaged in the coastal trade between Auckland and t.isborne. during which time he had sailed the ; four vessels, which were all built by Messrs. Uine and Brown, of Totora, Norths Each schooner in turn was sold on account of the increase in the trade, and that is the only fault that Captain Skinner has with the Aotea, he very often being offered three and four times as much cargo as she contd carry. j j i
