BISHOP COWIE'S RETIREMENT.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, thank you for your grand references in your leading article, and in your other references to our beloved Bishop. All you have said as to Dr. Oowie will be voiced throughout Australasia. You have said all that can be said, as to bis pure, simple life; of his excellence, and his life work. It ever there was a man living possessing a saintly nature there we have the man in the Bishop. The movement now on foot with a view ; to the presentation of a testimonial to him on his retirement, is creditable to those who have prompted it. In this regard might I make a suggestion? The Bishop, with his wife, whose family consists of, I think, three sons and one daughter, are now residents in New Zealand. Seeing that his family is likely to remain in the colony, and that the Bishop might also remain, would not any presentation be more appropriate in the form of presenting to His Lordship a suitable residence ? A house, with grounds, in a suburban centre ? I would willingly contribute my share.— wo, etc., T. P. Moody. - Hikurangi, June 18, 1902.
