STRIKE OF LUMPERS.

On the arrival of the steamer Leura ilia waterside "workers declined to work the ves- ' sel on the ground that the company em- i ployed a non-unionist lumper. At a con- ' ference of tbe local steamship managers it was decided to resist the union's demands* and to order all unionists discharging cargo to leave. The vessel's crew and extra hands were put on, and continue discharging. The Waterside Union replied by calling out all unionists.
